The Brand

Fabric Godmother is a one-stop shop for dressmakers supplying a curated collection of bright, on trend and quality fabrics with a fashion influence from both the catwalk and the high street. The online store offers a comprehensive collection of modern and inclusive patterns as well as contemporary haberdashery supplies. I worked with Fabric Godmother’s director, Josie to create an identity that is contemporary and recognisable, reflecting a brand that is fashion-forward yet timeless.

The Design

Working with the uniform and minimal feel of the logo typeface National, Fabric Godmother’s primary logo is inter-locked allowing the letter-forms to sit closely together in a dynamic formation that gives an offset contemporary feel. Inspired by the 'zig-zag' pattern created by pinking shears a round edged motif has been added to the logo and used as a unifying device for sub-brand logos and icons also.

Fabric Godmother’s colour palette is divided into two groups, neutrals and accents. The neutrals include warm alternatives to black and white alongside a velvety pink tone and a metallic gold. These hues create a soft yet sophisticated edge while the accent colours speak to the vibrant and exciting parts of the brand.
