The Brand

Georgia Farrell Design is a multi-faceted architecturally inspired studio designing playful, geometric and colourful hand knit garments, accessories and homewares. The studio collaborates with yarn companies and magazines to create original collections and books while also releasing their own self-published patterns. I worked with designer, Georgia to create an identity that is clean and geometric using textural graphic patterns as a subtle nod to the link between architectonic materials and the tactile nature of knitting.

The Design

Georgia Farrell Design's logo celebrates the unique features of the brand’s headline typeface, ITC Avant Garde Gothic; a geometric sans serif typeface constructed from circles and straight lines reminiscent of the the1920s Bauhaus movement. The logo takes advantage of the typeface's iconic alternates and ligatures to create a recognisable, bold yet minimal logo which reflects the brand's architectural and geometric influences.

The brand’s colour palette is divided into three groups; primary, secondary and neutral colours all inspired by Le Corbusier's 1959 collection of intensive shades. As a nod to the way Georgia Farrell Design's work celebrates architecture, knitting and the processes that connect the two, a series of geometric brand patterns have been designed that can be used at varying scales and colours depending on their application.
